There is nothing more profitable for a country than investing in education and health. The education of taste begins from the very little ones: teaching children to eat well is a priority objective with a vision for the future.
For this the Royal Academy of Gastronomy and Spanish Nutrition Foundation with the collaboration of the Ministry of Education, they have created PANGEI, Food, Nutrition and Gastronomy Program for Early Childhood Education, focused on students of this educational stage, from 3 to 6 years old. Its main objective is to motivate children to eat well and enjoy their food in the school cafeteria and at home, through workshops, activities and games that “enhance” their taste for food. PANGEI is made up of 10 teaching units; Each one of them presents a theoretical part, a story, a song and activities to do at home and at school, with the help of adults.
This program has been completed with PANGEP, carried out with the collaboration of the Association of Friends of the Royal Academy of Gastronomy and the Banco Santander, and intended for the educational stage of Primary Education, for children from 6 to 12 years old. It is made up of 9 lessons that pedagogically adapt knowledge of taste and nutrition to this age group in which, in addition, the nutritional needs of the little ones and their learning capacity are evolving.
Both programs are complemented by 4 “cross-cutting” themes. that reinforce the common objectives pursued in both educational stages, and include the direct relationship of the student between what he eats and the physical exercise he performs, jointly promoting the acquisition of healthy lifestyles.
